Head Injuries

Serious injuries can occur when there is impact to the head. Head trauma can take place in automobile collisions, slip and falls, batteries, and bicycle accidents, to name just a few.

The diagnosis or severity of the injury can sometimes be overlooked due to the fact that radiology studies do not always detect all head injuries.

Many times head injury symptoms are subtle and go unnoticed. They can be in the nature of emotional or personality changes. Spouses and friends will say "he is not the same"..."he is very forgetful" ..."he loses concentration" ..."he is quick to anger" ..."he's lost interest in things he used to love."

Physician specialists such as neurologists and neuropsychologists have available various tests and screening methods to assist them in diagnosing head injuries.

If you have suffered a head injury as a result of someone else's negligence or fault, then you may very well have a legal claim for compensation. If you believe that you may have a claim you should seek the assistance of an attorney in order to protect and preserve your legal rights.

An attorney experienced in handling head injury cases will do a thorough investigation to accumulate and preserve all historical information necessary to provide proof of the effects of the head injury. Some of this investigative work will include obtaining grade transcripts, achievement and IQ testing results, before and after employment evaluations, and medical records to name a few. The attorney will also interview family members, friends, and co-workers for their observations of changes in the injured person after the trauma. The attorney will also be your vigorous advocate in the negotiations, litigation and trial of your claim.
